Amazon, in a recent message to sellers, announced the expansion of its fulfillment services to SHEIN, Shopify, and Walmart. This is a step taken by the eCommerce giant to inculcate more sales channels after eBay, Etsy, Temu, and TikTok Shop, so that they can leverage the wide fulfillment network created by the Amazon marketplace. Amazon MCF has the power to uplift businesses functioning on a multi-channel selling model by saving them effort and time of storing the inventory in different places.

Inside the Details

Amazon's online store is making an effort to streamline the multifaceted tasks of multichannel selling. Hence, it has brought SHEIN, Shopify, and Walmart together with its Amazon MCF services, helping different sellers in the following ways:

1. SHEIN Marketplace

Sellers will be able to fulfill their SHEIN orders with Amazon’s fulfillment services. Sellers can simply go to Seller Central from Amazon’s Supply Chain portal and the SHEIN Seller Hub to avail the service. With this, the business owners will deliver faster and satisfy the customers better.

2. Shopify Fulfillment Network

Most of the Shopify sellers sign up for the Shopify Fulfillment Network, but Amazon MCF is known for its fulfillment services, so you can opt for them as well. It will pick, pack, and ship the orders effortlessly with support from automation.

3. Walmart Marketplace

This was the most unexpected one but yes, Walmart sellers can now leverage Amazon MCF to deliver in a much wider area than before to expand the business, sales, and revenue. But it needs to be kept in mind that “All Walmart orders fulfilled by Amazon MCF include order tracking, delivery in unbranded packaging, and the option of choosing from a variety of shipping carriers.”

How Does it Make a Difference?

This update can bring a major difference to the businesses of eCommerce sellers, making their way to multichannel selling and integration. Here’s how:

1. Centralized Inventory

With this, sellers do not have to store their inventory across different sales channels, just the Amazon warehouse can do the job for them. Orders can come in from any sales channel, but the ultimate destination from where they will be delivered will be the same. It also makes it easy to manage inventory.

2. Walmart Support

Walmart has been very clear about the fulfillment being taken care of by WFS (Walmart Fulfillment Services) itself. But this update has brought quite a relief to the online sellers looking to deliver their products listed on Walmart across the globe.

3. Improved Efficiency

Amazon MCF is a well-known fulfillment service due to its accuracy and timeliness. Now, the service provided to them can be expanded to other channels, which leads to overall operational efficiency, where the seller does not have to worry about errors.

How Does Amazon MCF Work?

For those who do not know, getting orders delivered through Amazon MCF is very easy. Here is the four-step simple process:

1. Send Inventory

Firstly, sellers need to send their products to their preferred Amazon location. Then the products will be sent to Amazon’s fulfillment center, where they are safely stored. The fulfillment centers prepare the products for distribution when they are ordered.

2. Order Placed

Now, order drops in some sales channels like Shopify, SHEIN, or Walmart. The business owner is responsible for confirming the order and checking if the order is genuine. The order is confirmed, and then it needs to go to Amazon for the fulfillment process.

3. Amazon MCF enters

This is where Amazon MCF enters the scene to finally deliver the product to the customer. Before that, the order is packed and prepared well for the final delivery. Then the route for fulfillment is selected by the fulfillment channel.

4. Order Delivered

Well, once the order is dispatched from the fulfillment center, Amazon delivers the product in 2 to 3 business days. This allows the seller to sell worry-free, as they know their fulfillment operations are in the hands of experts.

Guidelines for Sellers

Sellers need to take care of the policy guidelines before sending their products to Amazon for fulfillment. Here’s what you need to take care of:

  • When employing an outside 3PL on competing platforms, confirm the channel regulations for the packaging and delivery experience. (Amazon prioritizes speed; other marketplaces might limit branding or demand transparency.)
  • Verify that the Walmart/SHEIN agreements allow Amazon logistics for the type of account you have; eligibility may differ by area and category.

Final Thoughts

Amazon MCF is making it easier for sellers to get their orders fulfilled. The timeliness and accuracy of the fulfillment service provider influence the customer satisfaction for the seller to a great extent. Amazon excels in this area, hence it is the ultimate choice for many sellers; however, they might face difficulty in managing multiple sales channels all connected to Amazon MCF for fulfillment. The solution to this problem is API integration software that takes care of inventory, confirms the order automatically, and then sends it over to Amazon MCF for fulfillment. Then the ecommerce fulfillment partner can take care of everything else from here on.
